SAVE BRYNGLAS

CONSTITUTION of SOCIETY

Title:

The Society shall be known as SAVE BRYNGLAS

 

Aims:

To purchase and/or manage that part of the hill, Brynglas, in the Shire of RADNOR which is the site of the battle between the armies of Owain Glyndwr and Edmund Mortimer which includes a mass grave of the fallen and to raise a suitable memorial and interpretive centre about the battle in the vicinity.

 

Intentions:

1) To manage the area comprising the above mention battle site

2) To get the necessary permissions to save the site for the Nation of Wales forever

3) To ensure that access to the site is kept open to the public

4) To erect a memorial in commemoration of the battle.

5) To provide information about the battle site and its part in the history of the nation.

6) To preserve and manage the site of the mass grave as a mark of respect for those who fell.

7) To approach the Charity Commission with the intention of becoming a registered Charity.

8) To look at the possibility of getting a suitable statutory body to care for the site in perpetuity if we are able to raise funds to purchase.

 

Powers:

1) To negotiate with whichever authorities are necessary to gain essential permissions.

2) To raise money by any lawful means to accomplish the Aims and Intentions from both individuals and grant aiding bodies.

3) To affiliate with or join societies or organisations to help further the Aims and Intentions.

4) If necessary to employ professional people to further the Aims and Intentions.

5) To publish information and promote interest in the battle, its leaders and its implications.

 

Rules for running the Society:

1) There shall be four Executive Members - Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Information officer - elected each year at the AGM.

2) The AGM shaU be held each year within 15 months of the previous AGM

3) Minutes shall be kept of each meeting and distributed to all members of the committee prior to each meeting.

4) The committee shall consist of members elected at the AGM.

5) The quorum for any meeting shall be 5 members.

6) In the event of the Society being disbanded the funds if any shall be handed to a society of similar historical aims or to the Wales History Forum.

7) All business shall be conducted bilingually.

8) The Treasurer shall present accounts to each meeting and an audited financial statement annually at the AGM.
